A few years back I had been on stage with a great local, belt-it-out soul singer. I was inspired to write a bunch of soul songs for this amazing Melbourne female artist, with a vague idea of forming a band, and those tunes were all in a higher register. The idea didn’t have legs but I pulled this track out as the strongest, leaving it in a ridiculously high singing key and just sang it falsetto myself. Chris Altmann lifted it in a demo version with a lovely piano part, later nailed by Marcel Borrack. Horns were compulsory and were so ably provided by Yianni Rowlands (trumpet) and Gideon Brazil (alto sax).
