about

This is loosely based on travelling alone through Asia when I was 19, meeting a friend from Denmark and having a ball. Then the song turned into an espionage story. Musically it was the very happy result of about 4 separate parts I’d come up with, verses, choruses and riffs that somehow fitting together to make the whole. I needed something upbeat to offset the pace of the record up to this point. It was one of the last penned tracks and fitted in nicely.

lyrics

My double agent, my young renegade
You disappeared when our best plans were laid
On foreign colonial shores we were placed
My heart in its grave
Confused and so crazed
Yes, but when we were together, we could’ve changed the world!

Somebody saw you on Rouge Aprapo
You were in disguise, your expression was closed
Affiliated with whom I don’t know
Whose language you spoke
Your tone oh so low
Oh, the endless conversations, adventures every day

Who you working for? Someone higher than the law?
Who you working for? Took it to the highest floor?
Who you working for, tell me who you working for?

Those letters faded now I can’t explain
How every word radiates from the page
Some full of elation, some filled with rage
The laughter and pain, the tragic refrain
Oh, whatever made you happy was a mystery to me
In the sleepless hours, I still wonder where you are
