about

Probably the most introspective track on the record following a trend of my previous albums containing at least one breathy, intimate song. It is a very ‘in your head’ song about how hard it can be to connect to the world. It also provided a nice opportunity for more mellotrons, violins and cello and guitar picking from Giles Warren (in the tradition of ‘These Days’ by Nico), as well as an 8 second splash of ethereal “la la las” from 16 year old talent, Violet Kelly.

lyrics

Underneath your bed
Dancing round your head
All the things unsaid, beware

They will open you
Make you vulnerable
Make you hold your hand out to the world

On the ceiling fan
Nesting on the door jamb
All the things you cram inside

Who knows what transpires
When they finally prise
Their own way outside to the world

In the sunny rays
In my tooth decay
In the things you say to me

How you love and care
Would go most anywhere
Just to take me there to the world

On any given day
I’ll be heard to say
I just can’t find my way to the world
